Today's Quote

The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware.
Henry Miller

Often ... I feel that I merely go through life unconciously, merely flowing along ... Time to wake up and start BEING - and by BEING, start LIVING.

When will I see you again?

The first time - the first time we met, I am already mesmerized by you. A brief encounter. Can't wait to see you again.

The second time - we met again. Just the two of us. Even a shorter encounter, but there were sparks around us. I got a feeling you are the one I have been waiting for...

Now I can't get you out of my mind... when can I see you again? And for the third time we meet, I hope it is not in dreamland... but in real life.

Land below the wind II

Leaving Mabul with a heavy heart, we had a long drive to Sandakan, reaching there almost midnight.
Too tired to do anything else, we just went straight to bed.

We stayed at NAK Hotel - beautiful view from the room.

But the thing that made me fall in love and book this place was the rooftop garden - beautiful!

Overlooking Sandakan city on one side, and the sea on the other...

Slow start to the day, we headed to Buli Sim Sim for 2nd round of breakfast - had preserved egg dumpling - yummy!!!

Visited the Puh Jih Shy temple, which overlooks Sandakan Bay @ 300 metres above sea level...

Next stop - one of the oldest church in the country - St Michael's which is situated on Elton Hill. It was built in 1893 and took 30 years to complete.

Holidays and food go hand in hand - met up with an ex colleague for lunch.

Had wanted to visited Sepilok, but we missed the feeding time - so we decided to check it out some other day. The journey continued with another long drive back to Tawau - where we stayed another night before I head home to KL.

A very good break - no rushing around like a headless chicken, just slowly soaking up the sights and sounds, enjoying every moment. However, next round  I won't want to cover so many places, I need to 'slow it down more' ... especially to make the long drives worthwhile. Sabah - I will see you again!

Land below the wind

23 - 24 June 2011 (backlog for 3 months ++)
First time visiting the beautiful place, Sabah - also known as The Land Below the Wind.

Taking an early flight to Tawau - which I almost missed. No, I wasn't late to the airport. I was there JUST IN TIME, an hour before to check in. Then I went to have my breakfast at Old Town - which was a wrong decision. The food took some time to arrive, which in turn made me almost late for boarding. I reached the boarding gate just as it closed, 20 minutes before fly off. Then it had to happen that the plane was parked furthest away...

Anyway, despite the early scare - I made it safely to the plane & touched down nicely in Tawau. My first time. My friend came pick me up and we drove straight to Semporna.

In my 5 days there - just managed to cover very limited places and sights - still, this had motivated me to revisit the place again some time soon.

First stop after arriving at Tawau airport was Semporna. Had our lunch nearby before proceeding to Big John Scuba's office to arrange for our boat transfer to Mabul Island.

45 minutes boat ride later, with us being splashed half wet, we arrived at Mabul Island, a small island off the south-eastern coast of Sabah. The island has been a fishing village since 1970s. Majority are immigrants from relatively nearby clusters of islands of the southern Philippines. They are mainly Bajau Laut and Suluk Muslims who live a nomadic lifestyle.

Crsytal clear water!

So worth it to exchange the sunset view with KL Tower as the backdrop with this... especially if it means I could just sit there and do nothing, enjoy the breeze, enjoy the serenity... just waiting for dinner to be served
Visited the Kapalai Island as well - beautiful place! The island is actually just left with a strip of sand bar...

As can be seen from the pic - rainy day!

Beauty Tips :)

For attractive lips,
speak words of kindness.
For beautiful eyes,
look for the good in others.
To lose weight,
let go of stress, hatred, anger, discontentment, and the need to control others.
To improve your ears,
listen to the Word of God.
For poise,
walk with knowledge and self-esteem.
To strengthen your arms,
hug at least 3 people a day; touch someone with your love.
To strengthen your heart,
forgive yourself and others.
For the ultimate in business, casual or evening attire,
put on the robe of Christ; it fits like a glove but allows room for growth.
Best of all, it never goes out of style
and is appropriate for any occasion.
Doing these things on a daily basis will certainly make you a more beautiful person.

Am-Xplore Hunt 2011

First time on an auto hunt. Fun! But... used up too much of my brain juice. Was telling my colleague I don't even use to think so hard when working...

But all is good... we WISHED we could get Top 25 - WISHED because we really don't have much confidence.There were about 130 teams participating & we end up with 16th!!! WOW!!! Good work, mates! :)

We celebrated with a good seafood lunch the next day.

Initially we wanted to go straight home after lunch, dropping by Melaka on the way. One look at the Johor map at hand - we found out that there's a National Park nearby - the Kukup Island. So, we made a detour. Well worth it - amongst others we saw the black crabs with red claws, blue crabs, ... etc.
Tiring trip - but worth it. Best of all, we did better than expected. I think that's motivation enough.

Looking through the blinds

I have been with the Company for almost 1 1/2 years now. Honestly, there are more things I loathe than love (boss' not reading this, I hope!). However, I am always thankful that I have a strategically placed work station - especially on days when I am battle-worn (like today), I could just turn around and look through the blinds -

Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary, because it means you've made a difference.
It's easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks. Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings.

The Deeds Undone

It isn't the thing you do, friend, it's the thing you leave undone,
Which gives you the bitter heartache, at the setting of the sun:
The tender words unspoken, the letter you did not write,
The flowers you might have sent, are your haunting ghosts at night.
The stone you might have lifted, out of a dear friend's way,
The bit of heart-some counsel you were hurried too much to say:
The loving touch of a helping hand, the gentle and winsome tone,
That you had no time or thought for, with troubles enough of your own.
These little acts of kindness, so easily out of mind,
These chances to be angels, which even mortals find.
They come in night and silence, each chill reproachful wraith,
When hope is faint and flagging, and a blight has dropped on faith.
For life is all too short, friend, and sorrow is all to great,
To suffer our slow compassion, that tarries until too late.
So, it's not the things you do, it's the deeds you leave undone,
Which gives you a bitter heartache, at the setting of the sun.

Meanwhile, today a colleague hid an Easter egg at my cubicle. Was suppose to deco it when I find it, and ta dahhhh - Easter @ The Workplace :)

Childhood & Consequences

If children live with criticism,
they learn to condemn and be judgemental.

If children live with hostility,
they learn to be angry and fight.

If children live with ridicule,
they learn to be shy and withdrawn.

If children live with shame,
they learn to feel guilty

If children live with tolerance,
they learn to be patient.

If children live with encouragement,
they learn confidence.

If children live with praise,
they learn to appreciate.

If children live with fairness,
they learn justice.

If children live with security,
they learn to have faith.

If children live with approval,
they learn to like themselves.

If children live with acceptance and friendship,
they learn to find love in the world.

心情 10012011

因为过去,心境变宽了;
因为心境变宽了,人也少了点执着;
因为少了点执着,人也看开了很多;
因为看开了很多,也变成没那么的在意身边的人事物;
我的不在意不代表我不在乎;
...我的不贴心不代表我不关心。
请你收起你对我的指责和批评;
你不是我,你没可能理解我的路是如何走过来的。

Ending 2010

With barely 5 hours to go before the end of 2010, I received a text message that a friend just passed away in a road accident at about 3.30pm. I am still in a state of dismay. I had wanted to do a post to recap & reflect on the year that had been... but now, I find my mind is filled with nothing else but the news of this friend. In my mind, thoughts like "how could it have happened?", "he's just 36 years old...", "it's a mistake, right?"... Thinking back, we probably spoke on the phone a couple of months back; I turned down his dinner invitation back then. Now, I wish we could have met up ...

RIP, my friend, you will be fondly remembered.

To all - wishing a better year ahead. Cherish the people around you - family, friends, loved ones. You will never know when is the last you can tell them you love them,; or show your appreciation to them.
